        In view of the complex composition, large volume and low concentration of impurity components in landfill gas, a biological filter bed can be used to remove trace components. When the landfill gas flows through the filter bed, the pollutants are transferred to the biofilm through diffusion, and come into contact with the microorganisms in the membrane to undergo biochemical reactions, thereby degrading the pollutants in the landfill gas. Experimental results in Australia and the United States have shown that this method has many advantages such as simple operation, wide application range, economy, and no secondary pollution, and is a very promising purification process.


        A biological scrubber has been developed abroad to treat sulfides in landfill gas. The landfill gas enters the gas-liquid contact tower from the bottom and is washed by the activated sludge in the aeration tank; after the sludge solution containing sulfides returns to the aeration tank, it is oxidized into sulfate by sulfur-oxidizing bacteria such as Thiobacillus in the tank. In the actual scale of landfill gas treatment, the removal efficiency of H2S is very high, which can be reduced from 2000×106 to 20×106.
